Pi Lambda Theta – Professional Education Honor Society

Pi Lambda Theta is an international honor society and professional association for students and professionals in the field of education. With our selective requirements, our purpose is to recognize individuals of superior scholastic achievement and high potential for professional leadership. PLT is the branch of the Phi Delta Kappa family of organizations which honors excellent scholastic achievement in undergraduate and graduate education programs. Membership will help distinguish you from others in the field, and it offers various opportunities for personal and professional development at the chapter, regional, and international levels of the association.

Membership Benefits

Member benefits include professional networking opportunities with fellow Thetans and PDK members; research and project grants; learning opportunities through chapter workshops, regional conferences, and webinars; and access to research and publications that will help you advance your career. We encourage you to visit PLT’s website, , to learn more about the benefits and opportunities available to members of this organization.

Locally, the Cleveland Area Chapter holds two fall meetings and two spring meetings to discuss relevant issues facing educators. We have recently addressed topics of autism, grant writing, learning disabilities, bullying, English Language Learners, alternative educational career opportunities, and enhancing interviewing skills. Most of our events are held on the east side.

Membership Requirements

Please join us in promoting excellence in education! Students enrolled in an undergraduate program leading to a career in education, with a 3.5 grade point average or higher (based on a 4.0 scale), who are second semester sophomores or higher, qualify for membership. Dues to join the organization are $47 plus an additional $10 for students or $15 for professionals (chapter dues). If you have already joined the main organization, you can still affiliate with our chapter, #519, by paying the additional chapter dues.
